Upgrade to Windows 10 Free

If you have a PC with Windows 7 or Windows 8 installed and you have it activated with an original license, you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

To date, Microsoft still allows you to upgrade to Windows 10 if the above described case occurs. We only have to visit their official website: https://www.microsoft.com/es-es/software-download/windows10

From here we can download the tool

We'll download the tool you offer and give you "Update this computer now"

We'll upgrade the computer where we have Windows 7 or Windows 8 installed

It will download Windows 10 and install itself.

During the process we'll just have to wait
We will have 3 options to choose from

There will be a time when we will be asked if we want to keep our personal files and applications. We'll say yes and click "Next".

Once the installation process is complete, we will have managed to get hold of Windows 10 for free.

Office 2016 product key linked to Microsoft account

To find out what product keys we have associated with our Microsoft account we must visit this link:

https://setup.office.com/

We visited the official website of Office

This is where we have to log into our Microsoft account. Once we have logged in we will visit this other link:

https://setup.office.com/home/getoffice

It is important to note that for the last link to work by showing us the associated product keys, we must have logged into our account.

Here we see how the product keys associated with the Microsoft account show us. They also give us the option to download a copy of Office, which is activated with the product key shown.

For each key there is a different download. To activate the downloaded Office installation it is absolutely necessary to use the product key that gave us the download option.

The downloaded file is exclusively intended to be activated with its associated product key

Everything explained here would also serve to see the associated Office 2019 product keys

Activate Office 2016 by Command

Office 2016 product key: How to change it or introduce a new one

There are times when we mistakenly enter a product key to activate Office and it is consequently not activated. This does not mean that the system does not remind us at all times that Office is not activated. The problem is that there are times when we are not given the option to enter a new key, so the program enters a loop from which you can only leave by uninstalling and reinstalling again the office application so that it asks us again for a new key.

Well, we're in luck, since there is a way to activate Office using commands through the Windows shell.

Activate Office by Command

To activate Office by means of commands we will go to the Cortana search engine and enter the cmd command. Then we will execute the Command Prompt as administrator.

Once inside we will write the following command to install the new product key:

cscript "C:Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Office16/ospp.vbs" /inpkey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

Changing the X's for the product key that we want to install.

We will use this command in case a 32-bit version of Office is installed (most of the time) on a 64-bit Windows 10.

If we would like to see before installing the new key, the status of the previous installation, which is the wrong one, then we should use this command:

cscript "C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft Office16OSPP.VBS" /dstatus

In this image we check the status of the wrong product key that we have installed and then we install the valid key

Installed product key

To see the newly installed Office product key we will use this command again:

cscript "C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft Office16OSPP.VBS" /dstatus

Here we see how the valid product key we entered has activated the copy of Office

Download ISO Windows 10

To obtain the official ISO of Windows 10 that Microsoft distributes, visit this link: https://www.microsoft.com/es-es/software-download/windows10

Once inside we will click on "Download the tool now".

When it has downloaded we click to run it.

We'll hit "OK".

Select "Create installation media".

We'll click on next.

Select "ISO file" and continue.

We will tell you to save the file in the "Downloads" folder.

It'll take a while to download the whole file so we can start doing something else.

Once downloaded, we can say that we have an official copy of Windows 10 in ISO format (Windows.iso).

To install Windows 10 on a pc for me the best way is to create a usb bootable memory with Windows 10 inside. In this article it is explained how (using the same Microsoft tool).

The best thing about this tool is that it does everything in one step, saving us time, which is a very precious commodity.

It really does two things:

-Saves the ISO of Windows 10 in the usb memory

-Makes the ISO image on the pendrive bootable

That's why I think the best way to install this operating system is this way.

Although we could also do the same with another application that is not from Microsoft but carries out the same task. This is the well-known application called rufus.exe. In the next article we explain how. Using the rufus.exe tool we can write any ISO to a usb memory making it bootable at the same time.

Activate Windows 10 using commands

Traditional way

Besides the usual way to activate Windows 10, which is to enter the key while installing the operating system or once installed in the Start > Settings > Update and Security > Activation > Change the product key, besides this way, there are others to do exactly the same:

Activate Windows 10 by CMD

CMD is the command console that comes by default in all versions of Windows since it was released more than 20 years ago, also called command interpreter.

We'll go to Cortana's search engine and type in "cmd". Once the Command Prompt application appears, click on "Run as administrator".

We will enter the command followed by the product key:

slmgr.vbs -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

If everything is normal, a message will appear telling us that it has been installed correctly.

If we wanted to see the information of the current license installation we would write:

slmgr/dli

If we would like more detailed information:

slmgr/dlv

If we wanted to know the expiration of the current license:

slmgr/xpr

In our case, it tells us that our equipment is activated permanently, that is, forever.

If we wanted to uninstall the current product key, we would type:

slmgr /upk

With this command the system will show us a message indicating that it has been successfully deleted.

The next command will tell us that the key has been successfully removed from the registry.

slmgr /cpky

If we type again:

slmgr /dli

A message will appear indicating that an error has occurred as there is no key installed.

If we would like to see the complete product key installed on a computer (all 25 digits), in this case we recommend doing it in the way explained in the following article.

How to transfer photos from your mobile phone to your computer

First of all we need the usb cable that we use to charge the phone. We connect one end to the smartphone and insert the other end into a usb slot on the pc.

The computer will immediately recognize the device but if we want to access its internal storage we will have to give it permission from the mobile.

Let's go to our smartphone (in this example we will use an Android phone), and see that 3 points have appeared in a row above). This means that we have a notification.

With your finger sliding it up and down the screen (as if it were a shutter that we lowered) the menu of notifications will appear.

There, "Usb to load" will appear. We'll hit it with our finger to get more options.

In this particular example we will use "Transfer Files" although we have the option of doing it the other way around as well.

Once this is done, we will see that the computer window shows the internal storage of the mobile.

We will double-click and enter the file and folder structure that exists on the hard drive of the mobile phone.

For example, if the photos that we are going to handle are the photos that have arrived to you via Whatsapp, we will go to the Whatsapp folder, we will enter it and several folders will appear.

We will enter the one that says "Media" and we will be in front of the folders that contain all the media that can be sent with Whatsapp.

Or if for example we want to find the photos that the mobile has taken with both the front and rear cameras, we will have to open the "DCIM" folder

In case we would like to move the photos from the "DCIM" folder to the computer desktop, we would only have to select the photos we want

and right-click on our selection. In the drop-down menu that appears we give you to copy.

We go to the desktop of the pc, right click on the desktop background and click on paste.

The selected photos will then be pasted from the smartphone's hard drive.

Repair damaged USB (Does not recognize USB)

In case we have a usb memory that when connected to the pc, it does not recognize it in any way and we do not care to lose the data we have stored in it, we will use the method that has more success when returning the functionality to our beloved usb memories. In this method we will use the DISKPART tool provided by Windows.

Repairing USB with DISKPART

We write the command "cmd" in Cortana's search engine and it will show us the application "System Symbol" and we will execute it as an administrator.

Next we will use a series of commands to repair the usb drive.

We type "diskpart" and the application will run.

Once inside we will write "list disk" and it will show us the different storage units we have connected.

With "select disk 1" we select our usb memory.

We'll use the "clean" command

"create partition primary"

"select partition 1"

"active"

And finally "format fs=FAT32"

We will have the pendrive ready to be used and it will be recognized by the system when connected.

Create USB bootable Windows 10

How to write a Windows 10 ISO to bootable media

When we talk about the word "booteable", we mean to create something that starts by itself, something that starts by itself, because if in a usb memory we make a "Copy-Paste" of any ISO that contains a program or operating system in .iso format, that memory if it is connected to a pc slot, it would not start any installation process by itself because that pendrive does not include the "boot" command inside.

Creating a bootable medium causes the installation to start by itself when it is detected (See also: How to boot a pc from usb memory).

CDs for example can also be made bootable. But well, we're talking about doing it with a USB memory.

Creating a bootable usb with Windows 10 can be done directly by downloading a tool from Microsoft's official website, as explained in this tutorial. This way, the tool prepares the usb memory you connect to be bootable with the Windows 10 operating system saved in it. You only have to wait a while, which is what the process costs.

Well, gentlemen, this is one way. It's the most recommended way. But there is another way to do the same, and I'll explain it to you.

Convert a Windows 10 ISO to USB bootable media

Assuming that we have downloaded the ISO of Windows 10 ( you can download the ISO of Windows 10 from the official servers of Microsoft from here where you will be offered a tool with which you will download the ISO ) and we have it in our possession, stored on our hard drive as an .iso file, we will proceed to download a free program called rufus.exe from its official website rufus.ie

We will execute it by double-clicking on it with the mouse and this window will appear.

Then we will introduce the usb memory in the PC slot and we will see how the same program detects the pendrive.

Now it's time to go up to the window where it says "SELECT".

Click and choose which ISO image you want to record on the installation media.

We hit "START". We will only have to wait a few minutes and we will have a usb bootable memory with a Windows 10 operating system installation media. We will be able to do the same with Windows 7, Windows 8 and Linux distributions.

Special case: Kali Linux Distributions

In the case of Kali Linux will give us the option to write in "Iso Image Mode" which we recommend. Although if once the ISO is saved in the pendrive in this mode, when proceeding with the installation of the operating system in a PC and during the installation process gives some kind of error, in that case we would have to opt for "DD Image Mode" and solve the problem.

Booting a PC from USB

Starting the PC from a USB memory

In the case that we have a bootable memory with an operating system recorded in it, in order for the PC to boot by first reading the usb memory that we have inserted in the PC slot, we will have to tell the computer the same thing. How? By means of the "Boot Options". What is this? We must enter the computer BIOS first of all.

All the computers when they turn on, during the first seconds of the boot, show us a message where they tell us which key we should press at that very moment so that the BIOS configuration menu appears. If we do not press it, it does not appear and the computer starts Windows as usual.

So that's it. The key depends on the PC but usually it is F1, F2,...F12 or Esc or Del . There are also computers that do not display any messages during startup. But if we press the keys I have listed above we will also enter the BIOS setup menu.

There are computers that have one key for entering the BIOS and another for the "Boot Options". In the example we will show it is like that.

Enter directly into the Boot Options

In the computer where we will try it, pressing F12 will appear a menu where it will let us choose the medium with which we will start the system, reading this one first.

Enter the BIOS setup menu

If we cannot choose the Boot Options directly we can also do it this way within the BIOS:

Press the Delete key to enter the BIOS menu, and the screen shown above will appear.

We'll go to the "Boot" tab.

The default option for a normal PC is for the hard disk to appear in the first position of the Boot Order Priorities.

What we're going to do is tell the system to start reading the usb memory at boot time.

We select and move.

We'll put the usb port in first position. So it will read what's in the usb slot first. If it doesn't find anything, it will read the next device which would be the DVD. If it doesn't find anything, it will continue reading through the hard disk and so on.

Finally, let's not forget to save the changes and reboot.

When rebooting the system, if we have placed the usb port as the first option, and we have a bootable memory with an operating system saved in it inserted in the port, the system will start the installation of the O.S. that is in the pendrive.
