More than a billion people use Office daily. The applications that Microsoft offers in this package are still used by the majority of users. Neither Free Office nor Open Office have been able to displace the quintessential Microsoft office suite, which continues to be on the office software podium as number one.

What is Office?

Microsoft Office is a set of office applications connected to each other, which give the name to the best office suite on the market today. It interrelates desktop applications, servers and services for the 'Windows, OS X, iOS and Android' operating systems.

The first Office was launched in 1989 for Apple. A year later for Windows. These versions included Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Over the years the suite has been formed, growing and improving, so that today it has its 2019 version. Besides Word, Excel and Powerpoint it also contains Outlook and only for Windows it includes Project, Visio, Access and Publisher.

Main Office Programs:

  • Word: The most dominant application in today's market for word processors. Its extensions are: [.doc, .docx , .dot, .rtf ].
  • Excel: It's a spreadsheet template, which also has a very favorable position in the spreadsheet market. Extensions: [.xls , .xlsx , .xlsm ].
  • PowePoint: is very popular within its sector of applications for visual presentations. Extensions: [.ppt , .pps , .pptx , .ppsx ].
  • Outlook: Electronic client application and personal agenda manager. Extensions: [ .msg , .pst ].
